Concept, composition and color all play an important role in the construction of my paintings. A lifetime of drawing, architecture, building trades, worldwide mission trips as well as photography has provided me with an appreciation for the arts, the built environment and creation. Painting plein air is both a challenge and a thrill. I strive towards a convincing statement of a well laid out design, while determined to capture an abstract version of the real world masterpiece. In short, I try to avoid contrivance and exhaustion in order to lay out the colors, find a subject that inspires and then paint successfully.
